Plot
In medieval Tallinn, a celebrated knight, recently liberated from Baltic pirates, is found dead—beheaded, coins crammed into his mouth, and the gold chain he’d purchased that very day gone. The bailiff tasks Melchior, a sharp-witted apothecary, with solving the murder. Digging deeper, Melchior learns the knight was hunting for a shadowy figure called the "Tallinn prisoner," a trail that winds toward the Dominican monastery. As he edges closer, a brutal wave of killings erupts, claiming anyone who brushes against the secret.
