Linda Bukowski

Linda Lee Beighle, who later became known as Linda Bukowski, holds a place in literary history as the second wife of celebrated writer Charles Bukowski. Their relationship began in 1976 when she met the author at a poetry reading, and the couple eventually married in 1985, remaining together until his death in 1994.

Beyond her role as the poet's partner, Linda was a successful businesswoman. She owned and operated a vegetarian restaurant in San Pedro, California, called "The Bistro," which reflected her dedication to healthy living and organic food—interests that influenced Charles's own lifestyle in his later years.

Linda played a significant part in preserving Charles Bukowski's legacy after his passing. She managed his literary estate, overseeing the publication of posthumous works and ensuring his archives were properly maintained. Her efforts helped secure his place in American literature and allowed new generations of readers to discover his writing.

She was also instrumental in the creation of the Charles Bukowski Memorial, a tribute located in San Pedro, where the couple shared their home.
